Our Process

Creating Together We Thrive was all about making the best support resources easy to find. Here’s how we did it:

Finding the Best Resources

First, we searched for high-quality, reliable, and free support resources for youth patients. We looked at websites, YouTube channels, blogs, and more, using keywords like youth, children, teens, medical condition, patients, emotional support, and support groups.

But we didn’t just pick the first links that showed up– we carefully checked each resource to make sure it was:

Made for young people (not just for parents)

Free to access, so no one is left out

Created by trusted organizations or people with real-life experience

Helpful and easy to understand

Once we found a resource that met these criteria, we categorized it based on who it would help the most — either children, teens, or both. We then wrote a short, clear summary explaining what kind of support it offers.

We also worked with the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) at BC Children’s Hospital to get feedback from young patients themselves. They helped us understand what kids and teens actually want in a resource– making sure this list is built for youth, by youth.

Building the Website

After gathering the resources, we built a website where young patients, families, and caregivers could easily access them. We designed the website to be simple, welcoming, and easy to use, so that you can quickly get the support you need.

Thanks to funding from the Elliott Lab at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, this site is now up and running– helping you find the support you need.
